Cast Iron Media Fellowship Application
Apply for the 2025 Cast Iron Media Fellowship!
In partnership with Cast Iron Media, our goal is to remove the societal barriers restricting qualified candidates from entering the sports industry and provide real world experience while building their own professional network.
Selected candidates will rotate within Cast Iron Media departments, and participate in Sports Biz Careers professional development toolkit, covering weekly topics:
(1) Managing up
(2) Professional writing
(3) Collaboration
(4) Persuasive Presentations
(5) Using data (“insights”) in storytelling
(6) Leadership
The fellow will participate in a total of six (6) off site visits, focused on career exploration and networking.
12-WEEKS PAID HYBRID PROGRAM (Total $7,500 stipend paid across June, July, August)
Applications close February 14th by 11:59pm EST.
Mandatory Dates
May 13th-May 15th: In-Person Orientation in Charlotte, NC (CIM cover costs)
May 20: 1st day of Fellowship
August 9: Final date of Fellowship
**MANDATORY: Must be able to work from the Cast Iron Media offices (3) times per week during the Fellowship (located in Irvington, NY)

The event kicks off with the Cast Iron Media Career Conversations, which are virtual roundtable discussions with industry professionals representing four (4) career pathways in sports media: Marketing, Sales, Production, & Content. You'll have representatives from the Cast Iron Media + FOX team discussing their career pathways, answering questions directly from you, and building new connections to add to your network!
Immediately following, students will proceed to the interactive panel discussion featuring FOX Sports executives and media personalities. They'll discuss important topics, including the college-to-career transition, resume insights, networking, and pass the mic to students for real-time Q&A!

CHARLOTTE-BASED STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY TODAY FOR THIS “GOLDEN TICKET” EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT WILL BOLSTER YOUR RESUME, BUILD YOUR NETWORK, REFINE YOUR CAREER READINESS, AND HELP YOU IDENTIFY YOUR NEXT STEPS.
GET ON-SITE EXPERIENCE WORKING ACROSS A LOCAL SPORTS ORGANIZATION FOR ELEVEN (11) WEEKS THIS SUMMER
(Fellowship On-Site Summer: May 2025 - August 2025)
INTERACT WITH EXECUTIVES AND EXPLORE FIFTEEN (15) LOCAL SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS
BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH MORE THAN A HUNDRED (100+) LOCAL SPORTS INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS
RECEIVE THIRTY (30) HOURS OF CAREER READINESS AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING + $6,000 STIPEND
DEMONSTRATE YOUR LEADERSHIP AND GENEROSITY BY GIVING BACK TO THE CHARLOTTE COMMUNITY BY FACILITATING A CHARLOTTE SPORTS BIZ SEMINAR FOR LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS IN 2026
(Fellowship Seminar Planning: September 2025 - February 2026)
The criterion for fellowship recipients is as follows:
1) Fellows must represent a Charlotte area university as an undergraduate student for example: Belmont Abbey College, Johnson & Wales University, Johnson C. Smith University, Davidson College, Queens University, Winthrop University, Wingate University, University of Charlotte, CPCC // OR have been a graduate of a Charlotte-Area High School.
NOTE: Fellows are required to live locally in Charlotte, NC. SBC is not able to provide any housing support or relocation. There is no possibility for remote or hybrid opportunities.
2) Fellows identify as being part of an underrepresented group including:
Identifying as a member of a BIPOC community
Identifying as Female
Identifying as a member of the LGBTQ+ community
3) Preference will be given to students closest to graduation -- members of the Class of 2025 and/or 2026.
4) Fellows may be asked to demonstrate their financial need
